I’ve been wanting a Prada bag for a while now. I used to have a hand me down crossbody bag in black nylon. It was one of my most abused bags. The interior lining had ripped because I used it everyday to carry all my crap. After a few years, it had to retire. I thought to myself, I’ll get the leather ones next time.
Recently, I’ve been eyeing on some styles but then I have to hold off bag purchases because I’m saving up for other things (talk about priorities). Majority of the styles I listed are crossbody bags. Since I spend most of my days running errands, visiting construction sites (for work), and having casual meetings, I prefer light and stylish bags that I can sling around my shoulders comfortably and conveniently.
Budget being the most important factor in my decision making, I’ve narrowed down some of the crossbody styles that I’ve been considering:
- Gucci Soho Disco Bag
- Gucci Bree Guccissima Leather Crossbody Bag
- Prada Vitello Phenix Bandoliera
- Celine Trio
- Balenciaga Hip Leather Crossbody
- Balenciaga Everyday AJ Camera Crossbody Bag
I was also tempted to look at designs with a higher price range like the YSL Lou Lou Bag, Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis, Celine Nano Luggage, and Gucci Marmont Matelasse, but I still can’t convince myself to get a bag beyond my set price point.
I got the most pleasant surprise when my sister and her fiancé gifted me with a bag that has definitely been on my list – the Prada Vitello Phenix Bandoliera. Being an avid fan of dark colored bags, the Argilla (a light grey color) is an unexpected but refreshing addition to my bag collection. I can’t seem to shake off that exhilarating feeling after seeing the bag and smelling the Prada leather (I love the smell of leather bags in general).
I’ve been checking Pinterest and Instagram for outfit photos and what’s inside my bag videos using this bag but there are very limited postings about it. I figured, maybe because it’s not really a hype bag. Honestly, I’m surprised that this bag is not so small after all. It’s roomy interior is divided into two zip compartments which can accommodate loads of essentials including a full sized wallet and plus size phones. It is also lined with a black printed fabric just like the old one I used to have. Nothing special there I have to add. There are no interior pockets to put trinkets in but it’s not really an issue for me since I always carry with me a small pouch.
The leather exterior has a pebbled texture to it; and the gold hardware complements the whole look of the bag making it classy and sophisticated. I love the boxy shape of the bag which makes it sit right up without losing its form. Another good thing I like about the bag is its adjustable strap (with five holes) making it suitable to any height.
For those considering to get this bag, here’s the approximate bag size for reference: Width – around 9.5″; Height – less than 6.5″; Depth – less than 4″
I hope you find this post interesting. If there are details that I forgot to mention or if you have questions, feel free to leave me a comment. 🙂
